How to Care for Your Carpet

Carpeting is one of the most low-maintenance types of flooring available. Keeping your carpet looking great won't require a major time commitment. We believe that establishing a preventative maintenance routine is a great first step to caring for your new carpet.

Preventative Maintenance For Your Carpet

The first step to keeping your carpet clean is making sure to remove outdoor shoes before walking across your carpet so you don’t track dirt inside the house. You may also want to put doormats outside your home.

When it comes to carpeting, daily to weekly vacuuming with a manufacturer’s approved vacuum is really all you need to keep your carpeting looking and feeling great! As a general rule, the more foot traffic on the carpet, the more you should be vacuuming.

Dealing with Spills & Stains

Stains happen! Even the most careful and cautious of carpet owners will fall victim to the occasional spill. This is especially true if you have children or pets. Fortunately, there are many ways to remove spills and stains from your carpet flooring.

The first thing to remember when you have a stain or a spill is to remain calm. Whether it's wine, water, soda, or something more severe, there is always a way to get it out, or at least to minimize the damage. While treatment for stains can vary, we recommend blotting out the stain with a wet cloth and then consulting the manufacturer's guide for an approved cleaning product.
